Bathing
Private bathtub, separate toilet and washing machine in each studio.
Access and room allocation
All nine units are sold through one listing and are broadly the same: about 18–20㎡ each, a double bed and a sofa bed, the same kitchenette, bathroom with bathtub, separate toilet and washing machine. What varies is the interior tone — some units are finished in pale wood and soft blue, others in warmer browns — and the third-floor units have part of the ceiling sloped. The unit is assigned on the morning of arrival, so a specific room or floor cannot be chosen, and the building has three floors of stairs and no lift.

The apartment is unit 306, on the 3rd floor of Lions Mansion Dogenzaka — a red-brick residential building on a Dogenzaka backstreet, with a lift from the ground-floor entrance hall. Only this one apartment is ours; the rest of the building is other people's homes, so the building asks for quiet between 21:00 and 09:00, and shoes come off at the door.
Comfortable for two to four. Five or six can share the two double beds and double sofa bed, all in one tatami bedroom. There are no separate sleeping rooms for different families.

The washing machine stands outside, on the balcony.
Short answers to what people usually ask us. These compare MADO's seven properties with each other, not with everything available in Tokyo.
Which one sleeps a group of eight or more?
The two houses. Hotel MADO Kitasando takes up to 24 across 6 bedrooms plus the living room, and is comfortable at about 16. Hotel MADO Shin-Okubo takes up to 21 across 4 bedrooms plus the living room, and is comfortable at about 12. Both listings stop at 16 guests on the booking form; for a party above that, message us first and we will set it up. In the studio buildings each studio is booked separately, so a group spreads across several rooms in one building.
Which one is closest to a station?
Hotel MADO Shin-Okubo — 1 minute on foot to Shin-Okubo Station. Hotel MADO Kitasando — 3 minutes on foot to Kitasando Station. Shibuya Nishikawa Stay by MADO — 3 minutes on foot to Shibuya Station. These times come from our own listings and arrival notes, and can differ by a minute or two depending on which exit you use.
Hotel MADO Kitasando and Hotel MADO Shin-Okubo have a complete ground floor — sofa beds, kitchen and bathing — so a guest can stay downstairs while the group takes the bedrooms above. There is still a step up at the entrance, as in most Japanese homes, so this is not step-free access. In the apartments, Dogenzaka Hotel 306 by MADO and Shibuya Hotel 502 by MADO are in buildings with a lift; the others are reached by stairs.
